i've heard criticisms about sunbeam x nightheart and i expected to not like them together or not care

but i'm gonna be so real with y'all, they're SO CUTE TOGETHER, i love them, they're so sweet

like yeah, the pacing was a little weird for a second of when they were actually falling in love, but they were SO CUTE TOGETHER even before they were in love and you could actually see them getting closer and warming up to each other

both of them thinking completely separately how they wished the other was there because they felt so comfortable talking to each other when they were both having trouble with their parents/friends/clanmates

i didn't know that nightheart just jumped into joining shadowclan like that, i thought he was going to have a more thorough conversation with sunbeam about it and they have a more classic confession scene but no that little idiot just jumped right in

AND SUNBEAM LATER THINKS ABOUT HOW HIM JUMPING RIGHT INTO THINGS IS SOMETHING SHE FINDS ATTRACTIVE ABOUT HIM IS SO CUTE

like they sprinkle in these little thoughts for both of them thinking how pretty or handsome or attractive or cool they think the other is and appreciating the other's skills and they're just so cuuuuuuuuuute

and the fact that they actually have conversations and communicate about problems and even if they disagree on something or something upsets them they compromise or work it out before it causes a bigger problem, like how nightheart actually TALKED to sunbeam about what berryheart told him instead of just assuming the worst things and ruminating on them and getting irrationally angry or upset about it and ending up causing a big fight or something

and also I FUCKING LOVE FAKE RELATIONSHIPS TURN TO ACTUAL LOVE TROPE LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO

Do you think sometimes when the team has a movie night, when they watch those 60's action war movies like "Von Ryan's Express" and "Battle of the Bulge" or spaghetti westerns like "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and "Death Rides on a Horse," Soldier pauses during or right after fight scenes or duels or whatever to obsessively overanalyze them. Like, he'll try and turn them into strategies to use on the job, takes, uhm, 'notes', (tactical doodles,) sets up nerdy models using a whiteboard map and improvised figurines, uses these examples when he does those psyche-up pre-battle speeches or during strategy meetings.

'Cause I bet he does, I bet he does that, and it completely kills the momentum of the movie to the point where the rest of the team gets disinterested and slowly leaves him behind to do their own thing.

I genuinely bet Engie wouldn't though, nah, I bet he's enough of a patient kind of gentle kind of man willing to stick through these pauses 'cause he's just that into the movie. And maybe he's just a teeny bit into Soldier's dissections of actiony chaos. Maybe gleans a bit of an understanding of Soldier's thinking that way. Admires the guy's passion about his 'research,' how thoughtfully he gathers details in an effort to help the team. Starts mixing in tapes for these sorts of movies more regularly to their movie night pool maybe subconsciously, maybe on purpose. The rest of the team doing their own movie night. losers.

with all these gaston crackships/rarepairs that are coming out lately it would be so fucking funny if he had a flig with all the main characters (ambar, nina, simon... hell luna too if you want) and they all know it except matteo

#mf would feel so betrayed once he finds out #and not because he's jealous or anything - or maybe yes (they kinda have a vibe between them if you get what i mean)#mainly because his best friend didn't tell him #gaston would 100% use “you didn't ask” with a shit-eating grin while shrugging his shoulder #he would have the time of his life making fun of matteo reaction lol #and matteo would also lowkey be insecure (understandable because gaston was probably a better boyfriend for all those people [real])#[from here on i'm gonna yap but like... ok yk what. now that i’ve had some time to process nghy canon, considering the current pacing of gen retcon, i think their next step is as ✨clear as day✨

i really like seeing them happy together, but i truly do think that they should divorce and either live the rest of their lives as single besties; partners in hero/heroine-isms, but better off as just friends, or go their separate ways for a bit and get back together when they’re a little older and wiser, staying together for good this time around, as each other’s first and last boyfriend/girlfriend

Just - not Quite to the goal intended #But she did get to set the tone for my new notebook! Ah! How fun #Or at least Mostly - that first doodle of her was the first 2025 doodle in this new notebook! For sure!#But I had already filled a test page early on while picking new notebooks to make sure this one scanned well #It does - thankfully - but that also means that 2023 was the actual tone-setter here lol #It's fine the date jumps around wildly in all my notebooks with how I've set them up #She's here now! The actual important part!!#If you can believe it that second one is actually a spacefiller - looks just like all the rest of her defensive crying doodles haha #There was Just enough room leftover from some scratch doodles - organizing things for that digital projects I've been teasing #And she just happened to fit perfectly ♪ Poor lad though always a coin toss what her mood will be with the Staff #Charm in a VUX uniform lol - she's worn other things before! Brain is in overdrive about the thought of Elyse and Balgruuf having a child together

Like I don't know if they will - Balgruuf already has Frothar, Dagny, and Nelkir, and Elyse loves them like they were her own children (Nelkir even starts calling her mother before long after she and Balgruuf get married)

But Balgruuf would be terrified, at least in the context of my fic and my interpretation of his past. He's already lost the two mothers of his children, he doesn't want to lose Elyse too. He fears it's a curse. That he is the factor that led to losing them. And he knows he isn't the best father. Being a single father for the longest of times whilst also being Jarl means he wasn't the most hands-on as a parent. He's getting better, he's learning from his mistakes of the past, but he's scared of being a screw up again. Plus at that point Nelkir would most definitely be in his teens, and Frothar (possibly also Dagny depending on when) may be adults so it has been a while since there's been a baby in Dragonsreach!!!

But anyway! If they did have a child, it'd most definitely be a daughter and it would probably happen after the Skyrim civil war is ended. Maybe a few years after. That'd put Elyse in her early 30s or thereabouts (they marry when Elyse is 28, and the war is still happening then at that point for context). And I'd say that there's a 20-ish year age gap between them based on a little part I've written for an upcoming chapter meaning that Balgruuf would be in his early 50s at that point? On a side note I've always envisioned Balgruuf having a summer birthday, and Elyse I very specifically feel has a birthday on 6th Feb/Sun's Dawn... for some reason. And if they did have a child Elyse would ask if her mother's name could be used, or at least an influence.

.... I've thought about this a lot for something that might not even happen.
